[Purpose] To understand the situation of the residents of Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region in terms of their knowledge of core cancer knowledge, and to adjust the phased strategies and measures of cancer control and health publicity and education in Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region accordingly.?[Methods]?A total of 271,496 valid questionnaires were obtained from 12 cities across the autonomous region using network convenience sample. Descriptive analysis, chi-square test, and binary logistic regression analysis were applied to analyse and describe the associations between possible influencing factors and the level of residents' core cancer knowledge. [Results]?The overall awareness rate of prevention and treatment core knowledge on cancer control in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was 70.40 per cent, with women (70.70 per cent) higher than men (69.76 per cent), and urban areas (75.39 per cent) higher than rural areas (67.17 per cent). The overall knowledge rate was higher in Hohhot (85.84 per cent) than in other cities, and lower in Xing'anmeng (61.78 per cent). The Manchu (72.76 per cent) were higher than other ethnic groups. The lowest knowledge rate was found in the age group under 25 years old (68.37%), and the highest in the group of 45-64 years old (71.90%). The highest knowledge rate (70.94%) was found among residents who smoked every day, and the lowest rate (67.62%) was found among those who quit smoking. The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that gender, age group, ethnic, occupation, family history, smoking status, and urban&rural were all factors influencing the level of the core knowledge on cancer control. [Conclusion]?The overall awareness rate of prevention and treatment core knowledge on cancer control among the residents of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has reached the expectation of 70 per cent by 2022 as required by the Healthy China Initiative, but has not yet reached the expected goal of 80 per cent by 2030, so it is necessary to continue to strengthen publicity and education for the key populations and weak areas, and to complete multiple sectors’ linkage to improve the level of the core knowledge on cancer control of the residents of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in total orientation. |
