As one of the most common malignant tumors in the upper digestive tract, gastric cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage due to the lack of specific symptoms in the early stages, which is similar to those of diseases such as chronic gastritis and functional dyspepsia. The main treatment for advanced gastric cancer includes chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and more recently, immunotherapy. However, immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) such as programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) antibodies can only improve the condition of some patients with limited clinical efficacy. Recently the adenosine signaling pathway in cancer has gained increasing attention and may become another potential target for tumor treatment. This article provides a review of the role of adenosine signaling pathway in immune regulation in gastric cancer.
