The vaginal microbiome is a unique collection of microorganisms in the cervicovaginal area that is critical to cervical health. Recent studies have shown that disruption of the vaginal microbiome, characterised by Lactobacillus reduction and harmful bacterial overgrowth, may exacerbate persistent HPV infection and cervical differentiation abnormalities, which is a prominent global health problem driving the cervical cancer. The whole paper is based on the influence of vaginal microbiome on the development of cervical cancer, and further elaborates on the review of probiotic flora for the prevention and treatment of cervical diseases, especially cervical cancer. |
